The terminal is located in the Onne Oil and Gas Free Zone and is set up to cater for the greater Port Harcourt area and eastern Nigeria including the local lucrative Oil industry. The nearest large city is Port Harcourt which has a population of 2 million inhabitants and is located 30 Kilometers from Onne.

Nigeria as a whole is a very predominant import area with West Africa Container Terminal being no different. The biggest export from here is empty equipment. Imports include almost everything imaginable as very little is manufactured locally.

Why WACT, Onne?
Onne has gained relevance due to proximity to markets in Eastern Nigeria such as Aba, Nnewi & Onitsha, and greater Port Harcourt region for the oil related business. Onne is the largest oil support port in the Southern Hemisphere.

No berth congestion
Unlike other major ports in Nigeria, Onne does not experience berth congestion.
