APM Terminals boosts trust to talk about safety at Global Safety Day

The company engages families in activities during a week-long celebration, this year with the theme 'We make it safe to speak up'.

APM Terminals Algeciras has once again rewarded this year in its Safety Awards the dedication, innovation and constant commitment to prevention during Global Safety Day. A day that is being extended throughout the week with a wide agenda of activities that promote confidence to share the best safety procedures, in line with the motto of this year, 'We make it safe to speak up', also involving families.

"Those on the front line are best ones to identify the changes needed to make our daily work safer and safer. And, on days like today, Global Safety Day, we take the opportunity to speak up about it with the conviction that we can be always heard to continue improving the procedures", declared Zsanett Balla, Chief Operating Officer, who participated in the event together with Alberto Rodríguez, HSSE director of APM Terminals Algeciras, who addressed in his speech the importance of continuing to promote the preventive culture, as "a responsible attitude and respect for the protection of health" in the port environment.

The day also included the conference "The noble art of persuasion in prevention that influences people", given by the expert in influence, persuasion and intuition Javier Luxor, and the presentation of the Safety Awards. This year, the winners were Juan Jesús Lara, for his involvement in the Leader Led project; Blas Ribero from Adecco, for the company's collaboration with prevention; Rafael Puertas, from Urbaser, Antonio Rodríguez Bernal and Francisco Pérez Silva, both employees of the CPE, for their constant commitment; Aida Pérez, for her engagement; Jesús Suela and Rafael González Martín, for their awareness and sensitivity; and Alonso Ocaña, Antonio Romero, Miguel Ángel Boto, Israel Tizón, Javier Rojas, Francisco Canto and Javier Cano, from Asset Maintenance, and Jesús Cañas and José Berlanga, from Kalmar, for their constant innovation in prevention.

The week's agenda will be completed with safety talks and workshops on personal protective equipment and advice on how to avoid back and lumbar injuries with the collaboration of Fremap, visits to the yard and the involvement of employees' families, who are taking part in safety and prevention activities, including tours of the terminal and boat trips around the bay.
