Used Face-Masks/Gloves & Trash in Gear Boxes

We would like to bring to your kind attention that we are coming across increasing instances of used face-masks, gloves and other thrash being found in gear boxes upon discharge from vessels. This unhygienic practice exposes port stevedores and other personnel to the serious risk of COVID-19 contamination, which is completely unacceptable.

Vessel agents are therefore requested to advise all vessel masters’ and their crew to ensure that gear boxes are kept free of the aforesaid items, while the vessel departs from the previous ports of call. These measures will help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and thus protect the health and well-being of all vessel crew and port personnel.

Any failure to comply with this requirement in future could result in operational delays and other costs and consequences, all of which shall be solely on account of the vessel and its agents.

All our customers are also reminded to use appropriate COVID-19 preventive Personal Protective Equipment (face-mask and hand gloves) and maintain social distancing norms at all times. Failure to comply with these requirements at the Terminal Premises, shall result in Port access being restricted and/or services being denied.
