Regulating Truck Movements at Khalifa Bin Salman Port (KBSP)
Dear Valued Customers,
All trucks entering KBSP for container related movements are administered through a transaction that begins with the truck being gated in and ends with the truck being gated out after completing container related activities. This enables efficient management of traffic density and its flow within the terminal, besides helping to measure container truck turn time performance for continuous improvement.
Off late we are coming across increasing instances of trucks entering KBSP for container related transactions being diverted either to the CFS/GC1 or to the general cargo yard for non-container related transactions, before the container transaction is completed. This practice is posing a safety hazard, causing VGM related discrepancies, as well as creating bottlenecks in our efforts to maintain a smooth flow of traffic within the terminal. Besides, it is also distorting the container truck turn time, which is monitored and also displayed on our website.
In order to rectify this issue, we would request all transporters to complete their container related transactions (including customs scanning where applicable), by exiting the gate before re-entering the terminal to undertake other non-container related movements.
Effective from 10th March 2021, any failure to comply with this requirement would result in a penalty of BHD 10/- per truck/per hour being imposed as per section 6.2.8 of the Bahrain Ports Tariff.
We would take this opportunity to remind all our customers to be always attired in appropriate COVID-19 preventive PPE (face masks and hand gloves) and maintain social distancing norms without fail, while being at the Terminal premises.
Thanking you for support as always.
Sincerely Yours,
APM TERMINALS BAHRAIN
