Mis-declaration of Non-Palletized Shipments

Dear Valued Customers,

As you are aware charges applicable for de-stuffing and stuffing of containers as per the Bahrain Ports Tariff are as follows:

• Palletized shipments - BHD 1.200/per freight ton
• Non-Palletized shipments - BHD 2.500/per freight ton

Please be advised that we are coming across increasing instances of shipments originally declared by consignees or custom clearing agents as palletized, that have been found to be non-palletized during physical inspection at the CFS.

As a result, customers are then required to pay the full de-stuffing charges applicable for non-palletized cargo and thereafter claim a refund of the initial payment. It may also be noted that the Port Operating Company reserves the right in such cases, to impose penalties for mis-declaration as applicable in the tariff.

To avoid such inconvenience, importers/consignees are requested to advise their respective suppliers to declare whether the cargo is palletized or non-palletized, on the Bill of Lading &/or Commercial Invoice.
