Customer Advisory - Safety Incident Notification – Trailer Curtain Operation

Dear Valued Customers,

APM Terminals would like to inform you of a recent safety incident involving a trailer curtain operation.

During the detachment of a trailer curtain rod, the rod fell unexpectedly and resulted in a hand injury to the driver. The incident occurred while the rod was being manually handled, highlighting the potential risk associated with uncontrolled movement of trailer curtain components.

To prevent recurrence of similar incidents, all customers, drivers, and contractors are required to strictly comply with the following safety precautions when opening trailer curtains or detaching curtain rods:

• Ensure curtain rods are fully supported and under control prior to detachment.
• Do not stand beneath or within the potential drop zone of curtain rods.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety gloves.
• Perform the task slowly, maintaining full awareness of pinch points and impact hazards
• Ensure adequate lighting and stable footing before commencing the activity.

Supervisors are expected to reinforce these safe work practices and ensure that on-the-spot safety checks are conducted before such activities begin.

حادث سلامة أثناء التعامل مع ستائر المقطورات

تود أي بي إم تيرمينالز البحرين إحاطتكم علمًا بوقوع حادث سلامة مؤخرًا أثناء تنفيذ إحدى عمليات التعامل مع ستائر المقطورات.

أثناء عملية فك قضيب ستارة المقطورة، سقط القضيب بشكل غير متوقع، مما أسفر عن إصابة السائق في اليد. وقد وقع الحادث أثناء المناولة اليدوية للقضيب، الأمر الذي يبرز المخاطر المحتملة الناتجة عن عدم التحكم الكامل في حركة مكونات ستائر المقطورات.

إجراءات السلامة الواجب اتباعها عند فتح ستائر المقطورات أو فك قضبانها:
التأكد من أن قضيب الستارة مدعوم بشكل كامل وتحت السيطرة قبل البدء بعملية الفك. •
الامتناع التام عن الوقوف أسفل القضيب أو ضمن نطاق السقوط المحتمل. •
الالتزام بارتداء معدات الوقاية الشخصية المعتمدة، بما في ذلك قفازات السلامة. •
تنفيذ العمل ببطء وحذر مع الانتباه الكامل لنقاط الانحشار ومخاطر الصدمات. •
التأكد من توفر إضاءة كافية وثبات مناسب لمكان الوقوف قبل الشروع في العمل. •
