General Cargo Safety through big bags standardization

Dear customer,

At APM Terminals Callao we ensure the prevention of accidents for all the people who operate in our facilities. The handling, collection and dispatch of cargo must be done under the best safety conditions. We have seen a great opportunity for improvement in the use of the most suitable packaging for handling, unloading and dispatching breakbulk cargo in Big Bags, also called Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers (FIBC).

In line with this, we appreciate that you can request from your manufacturer or supplier the certification that guarantees the correct manufacture of the Big Bag or FIBC, according to the international standard ISO 21898:2004, as well as the requirements of the "Safety and Health in Ports " of the ILO as part of the documentation that we need to receive as a Port Terminal.

This information will ensure that the packaging (FIBC) meets the international standard for safe lifting operations.

We hope to receive this information since January 1^st, 2023.
