APM Terminals Gijón is located in the port of Gijón on Spain’s northern coast, with direct connections to the Atlantic coast of Europe and the Canary Islands. With an annual capacity of 100,000 TEUs, the terminal serves northern Spain through excellent road and rail connectivity.
The terminal began operations in 2001 and was acquired by APM Terminals in 2016 as part of the acquisition of Grup Maritim TCB’s port and rail interests. In recent years, APM Terminals Gijón has expanded to meet growing demand in the region. A strong customer focus and a clear optimisation strategy have lead to the introduction of new services, investment in next‑generation equipment and terminal infrastructure, extended gate opening hours, and continued improvements in safety and operational efficiency.

In 2022, SGS Auditors verified APM Terminals Spanish Gateways as a multisite organisation to grant the Quality, Environment, Safety, Health, Security and Energy Management certifications according to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards for its container terminals in Valencia, Barcelona, Castellón and Gijón. This reinforces our strong customer service, sound processes and focus on continual improvement and ensures that our customers get consistent, good quality products and services.
