SGS validates APM Terminals Spanish Gateways' operating system for ISO standard certification

SGS has verified the operating system of APM Terminals Spanish Gateways as a multisite organisation to grant the Quality, Environment, Safety, Health, Security and Energy Management certifications according to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards for its container terminals in Valencia, Barcelona, Castellón and Gijón in a single process.

Ramón Albert, SGS Business Development Manager, gave the certificates in Valencia to Carlos Arias, CEO of APM Terminals Spanish Gateways, Daniel Muñoz, Head of HSSQE, and Paula Tortosa, who together with Paloma Delgado, worked on this new accreditation process.

"Until now we had certificates by workplaces, awarded by different certifiers. The validation of our WoW/Operating System as an ISO certification method is a further step in the standardisation of APM Terminals Spanish Gateways processes," said Daniel Muñoz.

The innovation of this certification lies in the fact that the auditors have considered that APM Terminals Spanish Gateways' management system is in itself a valid method of certification that covers all the requirements of the ISO standards. Therefore, after a thorough process and thanks to the work of the departments involved, SGS has certified the four terminals as a multi-site management system according to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
