APM Terminals Mexico Accelerates Port Leadership with Record Growth and Strong Sustainability Commitment in 2025
APM Terminals Mexico has strengthened its position as one of the country’s leading port operators, reporting sustained growth at its terminals in Progreso, Yucatán, and Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán during the first half of 2025. This performance reflects our customers’ continued trust and the company’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and Mexico’s economic development.
At Lázaro Cárdenas, container volumes grew by more than 20% compared to the same period last year. This progress was supported by an increase in vessel calls and the arrival, in June, of six fully electric yard cranes. This addition marks the second phase of the terminal’s expansion and a significant step toward cleaner, safer, and more efficient operations.
At Progreso, Yucatán, the terminal recorded growth of nearly 10% compared to 2024, reinforcing its role as a strategic hub for the southern region of the country. With a significant share of its volume destined for export—primarily to the United States—the terminal enhances Mexico’s connectivity with key markets and supports regional economic development.
Beatriz Yera, Managing Director of APM Terminals Mexico, stated: “This growth is the result of our teams’ dedication, and the trust placed in us by our customers. Our goal is clear: to transform port operations in Mexico through more efficient, sustainable, and inclusive solutions. We will continue driving digitalization to enhance customer experience and remain steadfast in advancing our decarbonization roadmap. At the same time, we uphold our commitment to the community by promoting initiatives in education, sports, and environmental care. At APM Terminals Mexico, we are not just moving containers—we are moving progress and opportunities for the country.”
