Update: Missed appointments and other gate procedures

Starting in December, we will be tracking appointments made by drayage providers in Termpoint but never used.  This would be what are considered "Missed" appointments in the system.  In Mobile, AL these are not common as we do not see the traffic delays or major changes to a driver's daily routine.  During the month of Dec we will be working direct with the drayage providers on their statistics and what may have caused a missed appointment.  In January, we will begin billing for any appointments made, but not utilized.  At this point, just take this notice as notification that the terminal will soon be reaching out to discuss the current situation and how to make sure going forward we limit or eliminate the missed appointments.  Official communication on what justifies a missed appointment and the various rules around the process will be further discussed over the next weeks.

We would like to thank all the drayage providers for informing drivers to NOT arrive to the facility until :15 prior to the start time of the day.  We however have seen a few drivers still arriving well prior to this request.  Please let your fleet of drayage drivers know that they should not arrive to APM Terminals until :15 prior to the gate start time.  The 6am "Orange Pass" drivers should not arrive until 5:45am and those drivers that start at 7am, should not enter the facility until 6:45am.

We have seen success in helping get the day started with drayage providers getting in their next day early morning appointments the day prior.  The focus here is on IMPORT pickups.  Drayage providers should get in 6am, 7am, and 8am appointment slots the afternoon prior.

One last reminder.  If a driver has received a ticket at the in-gate for a transaction, but for any reason decides to depart the facility without completing that transaction... the driver must stop at the out gate and have the clerk cancel that active transaction.  We have seen this occur a lot with drivers that have empty pickup appointments, but decide to go to an off site location to get their empty.  When the driver returns to APM Terminals, the system thinks the driver is still at the facility attempting to complete the earlier appointment causing issues.  As you can see, this can cause a bit of an issue.

Finally, A reminder that 2022 holidays are already posted on the web site.  For Christmas and New Years 2021 is to have full days off on the Friday (eve days) and will be off on the day of the holiday (Saturdays).

Thank you
