APM Terminals Callao, Peru has performed a key role in this this year’s Dakar Rally road race, which began on January 3rd, in Lima, Peru, and finishes in Cordoba, Argentina.

Over 540 vehicles were transported from France including cars, trucks and motorcycles which will participate in the race, but also the support vehicles for each racing team. The famous off-road race has been held in South America since 2009.

“APM Terminals Callao is proud to be the gateway to Peru for the vehicles that will participate in this international sporting event" stated APM Terminals Callao Managing Director Javier Lancha.

APM Terminals was selected by the Peruvian Government to operate Terminal Muelle Norte at the Port of Callao, now operating as APM Terminals Callao, in 2011, and assumed control of the facility under a 30-year concession. The facility is being developed into a modern multipurpose terminal for containers, general cargo such as Ro-Ro, break bulk project cargo, solid and liquid bulk, and cruise ships, representing an investment of over USD $750 million.
