New milestone of handling the highest number of Outward Double Stack trains
We, at APM Terminals Pipavav, are proud to announce our accomplishment of a new milestone in November 2020. The Port handled the highest number of outward double stack trains to several Inland Container Depot (ICDs). We handled 181 double stack trains in the month, 157 of which were outward double stack trains. This is the highest number of outward double stack trains loaded on a monthly basis since the port started its operations. The Port is the pioneer in introducing the concept of block train loading that is dedicated to our customers for the rapid transit of valued cargo. During the month, many such block trains were loaded and delivered to our valuable customers. In November, the average per-train operation time was maintained under 4 hours. The trains carried various commodities to and from Port Pipavav port to/from several hinterland locations in northwest. Double Stack trains are truly a benefit to the logistic industry as it ensures fast, safe and pollution free movement of cargoes. This milestone showcases our competency and customer orientation. It also highlights our preparedness for handling the additional traffic once DFC [Dedicated Freight Corridor] connectivity opens to our port in next few months.
We are grateful to our customers for their trust in us. We acknowledge the kind support of our partners - PRCL [Pipavav Rail Corporation Ltd], Western Railways, Container Train Operators [CTOs]. We applaud the diligent and coordinated efforts put in by our various teams to achieve this new milestone despite the current scenario.
