APM Terminals Pipavav sets new milestones for rail handling

APM Terminals Pipavav has reached new milestone through lifting the standard of efficiency and reliability in rail operations. The Port handled 206 trains in July 2023 - the highest number of trains handled in a month during the current year. This included the significant achievement of loading 166 Double Stack (DS) trains, surpassing the Port's previous record of loading 157 double stack trains in 2020. Of all the trains services by the port in July, 80% were Double Stack.

This remarkable feat not only showcase its excellence in optimizing cargo movement but also underscores port's unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability. Handling a record number of trains and throughput, the port has effectively removed almost 50,000 containers from the road, substantially reducing traffic congestion and associated emissions.

APM Terminals Pipavav is well connected to around 52 Inland Container Depots (ICDs) in the northwest. This enables customers in remote hinterland to connect with the global markets. More than 13 Container Train Operators (CTOs) operate trains to/from the Port to the various ICDs in the northwest, enhancing the rail transportation network across the region.

The Port also efficiently handles a growing number of exclusive block trains for major shipping lines, including ONE, MAERSK, and OOCL. These specialised services exemplify the port's commitment to providing tailor-made solutions to meet the diverse needs of its customers.
