Timely Evacuation of DPD Containers as per Customs Notification

Dear Valued Customers,

Warm greetings from APM Terminals Pipavav!

As part of our ongoing commitment to delivering efficient and compliant services, we would like to remind you of an important regulatory requirement concerning the evacuation of Direct Port Delivery (DPD) containers.

As per Indian Customs Notification No. 161/2016-Cus dated 29.11.2016, and subsequent advisories, all import containers cleared under the DPD scheme must be evacuated from the terminal within 48 hours of discharge. For your reference, please find attached Public Notice No. 2/2024-2025/CCP/JMR.

DPD is a key facilitation initiative designed to reduce dwell time and lower logistics costs by enabling direct delivery to importers, bypassing CFS routing. However, timely evacuation is a vital component of this process.

In this regard, we request that:

  • As of now, All Shipping Lines nominate their respective Container Freight Station (CFS) within the next three (3) days through e-mail. Once the new system is in place and properly communicated, please ensure the CFS nominations are made through IAL
  • Containers that are not evacuated within 48 hours will be placed on hold for direct delivery to the respective Beneficial Cargo Owner (BCO).
  • A list of such containers will be shared with the designated CFS and handed over for further processing.
  • Consignees (BCOs) may then clear their containers at the nominated CFS.

Please note, all charges levied by Terminal is as per General tariff (Scale of Rates) available in our website - https://www.apmterminals.com/en/pipavav/services/tariffs

Your cooperation is crucial to maintaining the smooth flow of operations and ensuring continued benefits under the DPD scheme.
