APM Terminals Delivers Community Project

APM Terminals Quetzal inaugurated the reconstruction of the first sector of Avenida del Comercio located in San José, Escuintla, which was rebuilt for the benefit of residents who frequently visit the area for businesses and service stores. This project is part of the agreement of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) established with the Municipality of San José, Escuintla.

“As part of the infrastructure axis of APM Terminals corporate social responsibility plans, the reconstruction of Avenida del Comercio began in October 2019. By 2020, APMTQ will continue to promote sustainable projects that respond to the needs of the residents of this community”, said Gabriel Corrales, director of APM Terminals Quetzal.

The Avenida del Comercio has improvements in 450 meters of street length, a track width of 8 meters and side benches to ensure road safety. Another complementary work was part of the plan, such as the installation of a storm drain for water venting, paving for the square in front of the market and signaling for pedestrians and pilots circulating on the avenue. This project lasted 2 months and a half, with and investment around US$500,000.00.

Since 2017, APMTQ and the municipality of San José began with the design of CSR plans focused on infrastructure, education, health and productivity axes. The investment plan began in 2018, representing $500,000.00 annually for various initiatives in the area of San José, Escuintla.
