Port of Salalah rolls-out leadership talent program
This month the Port of Salalah announced the seventeen employees selected for its Tamkeen Top Talent Program. Tamkeen is the Arabic word for ‘Comptenece’. Employees were selected from a short list of 85 following months of internal and external screening and testing.
The aim of the program is to build a Talent Pool at the Port of Salalah. Those selected will now embark on a long journey of growth and development towards future leadership positions in the port.
Selection was extremely thorough, with shortlisted employees taking three different aptitude tests: Verbal (which tested their critical application), Numerical (Numerical skills), and Perceptual (which tested their power focus).
An external third party was selected for the external part of the selection. In the first round, a Fifteen Factor Questionnaire Plus (15FQ+) was used to assess 50 candidates. Of these, 30 candidates continued to the second round, where the candidates took part in psychometric tests and an Assessment Centre which involved individual problem-solving exercises, presentations, group problem-solving exercise and Behavioural Competency-Based Interviews.
