A secure Truck Appointment System and online portal will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to avoid congestion and waiting times. Truck drivers access the terminal using biometric fingerprint validation.
This advanced technology allows MPS Terminal and Tema Port to grant access only to those truck drivers who are registered and authorized. This ensures that our visitors, staff, facility and your cargo is kept safe and is fully compliant with The International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) code.
License Plate Recognition
As soon as the truck enters the MPS Terminal and Tema Port premises an automated workflow is initiated in the background. Upon arrival at our automated access portals the truck license plate is read using automated License Plate Recognition (LPR). In addition to the LPR each truck will be identified through a unique and tamper proof identification sticker that uses RFID technology.
In parallel upon identifying the truck through the RFID the Terminal Operating System will retrieve all visit information (container number, IMO classification,…).
Optical Recognition Cameras
The automated portals are equipped with state of the art Optical Recognition Cameras to recognize:
- Container Number
- IMO Hazard Codes
- Number of Containers loaded
- Presence of seals
- IMDG Classification
All data is captured and verified in real time as the truck drives through the automated portals, without stopping, towards the Terminal gates. By the time the truck reaches the Terminal gates all captured data is processed and the weight is recorded using automated weighbridges. The truck is automatically identified through RFID and is allowed to proceed to its final destination at the container yard.
As the truck driver approaches the yard our eRTG operator will be automatically informed through the Terminal Operating System, upon arrival the visiting truck will be served by our operator. Once the cargo is (off) loaded the visiting truck can proceed to our exit lane and proceed its onward journey.
