Vado Gateway Among Top 20 Ports for CPPI Improvement in 2024
Vado Gateway has earned a spot among the top 20 ports worldwide for improvement between 2020 and 2024, according to the latest Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) published by the World Bank this September. This recognition marks a significant milestone in the terminal’s evolution, underscoring its steady growth and operational maturity since its launch in 2020.
The CPPI serves as the leading global benchmark for container port efficiency. It evaluates over 400 ports worldwide based on the time vessels spend in port (from arrival to departure at berth). Drawing from comprehensive Port Performance Data, the index offers critical insights into operational efficiency and the dynamics of global supply chains.
Vado Gateway’s rise in the rankings is backed by tangible performance gains. In August, the terminal set a new all-time monthly volume record with 39,700 container moves, surpassing the previous high of 31,800 moves recorded in March. This achievement reflects the terminal’s capacity to handle increasing volumes while maintaining consistent productivity. Quay operations remain robust, with an average of 28 crane moves per hour (CMPH), even on vessels exceeding 350 meters in length.
The improvements at Vado Gateway are the result of sustained efforts focused on collaboration and improvement of workflows. Key initiatives include:
- Constant communication and coordination with external stakeholders, such as mooring service providers, to streamline vessel handling and minimize delays.
- Enhanced workflow management, with a strong emphasis on detailed planning of both yard and quay operations to ensure seamless container movement.
- Operational responsiveness, enabling the terminal to adapt quickly to dynamic shipping schedules and customer needs.
