APM Terminals Bahrain implements Crane Optical Character Recognition (OCR)

APM Terminals Bahrain will implement crane technology digitization utilizing Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology. This new system will remove the task of manual data entry, improving accuracy and speeding up the operations flow, which this will also mean workers no longer have to enter hazardous areas to retrieve information related to container quayside operations.

The new set-up will include container feature recognition capability, leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning technologies to enhance read rates. The centralized data delivered by the system will be used to improve planning at the berth and throughout the terminal handling process.
