APM Terminals Pecém receives the largest ship to dock in its berth

Last Saturday (29 August) APM Terminals Pecém received the MSC Shuba B, the largest ship to operate in the state. The giant that marks the beginning of the Ceará fruit harvest season, arrived at 11 am and after the move continued on to northern Europe.

MSC Shuba B was the first vessel of the export season for the harvests that go from the end of August to March 2021. Its dimension is 330 meters long and 48.2 meters wide. This being the largest ship that has ever docked in the Terminal's berth. The vessel belongs to the owner MSC, and operates the East Coast service in South America and Northern Europe (NWC1).

“This is a turning point for Pecém. We are in a constant search for growth and new challenges. We took the first step and let so many other giants like MSC Shuba B come. May their arrival also bring new opportunities for our businesses and for the economy of the Northeast region.” highlights the Head of Commercial of APM Terminals Pecém, André Magalhães.

NWC1 allows the state of Ceará to move a greater portion of fruit production from the Northeast to the European market. This further strengthens the Port of Pecém as an important cog for this segment, and thus expands its territory in the region's Market Share.
