APM Terminals Medport Tangier employees spend a weekend at school

More than 25 volunteers and an eight-person strong organising committee from APM Terminals Medport Tangier gave up their weekend last month to transform ‘Bin El Widan’ primary school, located just a few kilometres from the terminal.

While some of the more serious repair works took around a week, talented volunteers guided by an external artist worked long days over the weekend to repair and transform the school into an inspirational learning environment for around 150 children to learn and grow into tomorrow leaders.

This is the second time volunteers from the terminal have taken on the challenge of supporting a local community school, and it was royally rewarded by the children’s reactions on their return to school after the school holiday. Following the renovation, the terminal used the school as a venue to host Go Green 2021 – a global environmental event supported by APM Terminals facilities around the world.

The event was used to help young people comprehend today's environmental challenges. “We are optimistic that next generations can and will develop more sustainable behaviours and solutions as they keep heading toward a better, cleaner, and greener world,” explained Ahmed El Amrani, HSSE Manager at APM Terminals Medport Tangier.
