2025 Annual Impact Report
Driving Progress with Purpose
The 2025 Annual Impact Report details how Pier 400 is moving more cargo, cutting emissions, and investing in the communities we serve.
APM Terminals Los Angeles at Pier 400 — the largest container terminal in the Western Hemisphere — has published its first annual impact report, offering a comprehensive look at terminal performance, environmental stewardship, community investment, and workforce development in 2025.
The numbers tell a story of a terminal that is scaling up while cleaning up. Since 2023, Pier 400 has increased cargo throughput by 62 percent while significantly reducing overall emissions. Truck turn times have been cut to 39 minutes — the fastest in the San Pedro Bay Complex — and the terminal earned the PMA Safety Award for the lowest Lost Time Injury rate among large West Coast terminals.
Behind those results is a deliberate strategy built on three levers: improving efficiency, electrifying equipment, and switching to renewable power. Pier 400 now operates the largest manned electric container-handling fleet and charging network in the harbor, with 71 electric units in service and nearly 95 more funded or on order.
The report also highlights Pier 400's role as a committed neighbor. In 2025, the terminal contributed more than $400,000 to local nonprofits, supported over 40 community partners, and logged 750+ employee volunteer hours — from wildfire relief efforts to youth mentorship programs across San Pedro and Wilmington.
This report represents a first — not just for APM Terminals Los Angeles, but across the entire APM Terminals global network of more than 60 facilities worldwide.
