Automated straddle carrier gets tested at APM Terminals Aarhus

As the first container terminal in the world, APM Terminals Aarhus has been chosen to test ZPMC´s groundbreaking and highly efficient automated straddle carrier.

“We are extending our collaboration around intelligent port technology, which is great. Automation will bring a lot of value and great potential, because it enables us to deliver consistent service to our customers and to be more efficient and safe”, Dennis Lenthe Olesen, Managing Director at APM Terminals Nordic, comments.

ZPMC is world leading in manufacturing and delivery of port equipment and together with APM Terminals Aarhus, they are now testing and developing the new automated straddle carrier to enable it to work for APM Terminals all over the world.

“We are proud that this state-of-the-art machine has ended up in Aarhus. Right now, we are testing the straddle carrier in a small, enclosed area. Test results are analyzed and evaluated regularly to optimize the technology to fit our operation”, says Dan Iversen, Operations Deployment Lead at APM Terminals Aarhus.

“There is a drive to utilize technology to future-proof our development and to enable us to provide world-class operation efficiency, today and for the future”, Olesen concludes.
