New express service brings Scandinavia and the Baltics closer together
CMA CGM is launching the new Scandinavia West Coast Express (SWX) service, starting July, 2025 – a move set to bring enhanced regional connectivity and sustainability to customers across Scandinavia and the Lower Baltics.
The SWX service connects key ports including Aarhus, Gothenburg, Poland and Lithuania, offering a direct and reliable short sea solution and a greener transport alternative shifting cargo from roads to sea.
The SWX service connects key ports including Aarhus, Gothenburg, Klaipeda and Gdansk, offering a direct and reliable short sea solution that shifts cargo from roads to sea — reducing congestion and emissions in the process. With its strategic position and robust infrastructure, Aarhus is well positioned as a vital gateway to and from the Baltics, offering quick turnaround and excellent connections to inland and ocean freight routes.
The new service is particularly beneficial for customers using APM Terminals, which are equipped to handle growing feeder traffic efficiently from both Aarhus and Gothenburg.
Faster, greener and more connected
“With this new schedule, customers can expect faster transit times, greener transport alternatives and seamless integration with CMA CGM’s global network. It’s a strong step toward connecting Scandinavia and the Baltics more efficiently — both commercially and from a suitability point of view. We're both grateful and proud to be able to support CMA CGM with this new and exciting schedule”, explains Mikael Gutman, Managing Director APM Terminals Nordics.
The SWX service reinforces the strategic importance of Aarhus as a link between Northern Europe and the Baltic region, while also supporting regional supply chain resilience and environmental goals. It strengthens the role of short sea shipping as a smart, scalable alternative to long-haul trucking.
