APM Terminals Aarhus welcomes Maersk Asia-Europe mainliner route
APM Terminals in Aarhus is proud to welcome the Maersk Gemini AE5 mainliner service, as the route is now being extended beyond Bremerhaven to include direct calls to Aarhus as well as Gothenburg. This adjustment – developed in collaboration with Hapag-Lloyd – aims to ease pressure on other European ports due to high volumes and support continued high reliability across the Gemini network.
The AE5 service is part of Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd’s new east-west network, launched in February.
The current weekly Gemini shuttle service between Aarhus and Bremerhaven run by Hapag Lloyd’s ‘Valencia Express’ on Tuesdays will be discontinued. At the same time, Aarhus will receive new shuttle services for cargo going to and from Poland.
The extension to Aarhus has already been in partial use for several months, but Aarhus and Gothenburg are for now becoming a part of the AE5 route.
“We’re excited to welcome both the mainliner service from Maersk and the new shuttle to Poland at APM Terminals Aarhus. We’ve had a strong start to the year, repeatedly surpassing our productivity benchmarks in container handling. That’s only possible because we continue to demonstrate that our terminal in Aarhus is highly efficient and competitive, capable of adapting to rising volumes,” says Mikael Gutman, Managing Director at APM Terminals Nordics.
With Aarhus now included as part of the AE5 rotation and serving as a transit point for cargo to and from Poland, we look forward to continuing to support our customers with reliable, flexible, and efficient service.
