Reliable logistics – a lifeline for the North Atlantic
Logistics plays a crucial role in supporting production and supply chains. In the North Atlantic, reliable logistics is not just a matter of efficiency – it is essential to the daily life and resilience of entire communities.
Strategic partnerships between shipping lines, producers and terminal operators ensure that goods can move to and from Greenland and the wider North Atlantic in a seamless and dependable way. From the terminal in Aarhus, one of the region’s most important gateways to the North Atlantic area, logistics connect local industries with global trade and help sustain communities.
In August, Managing Director Mikael Gutman and Commercial Manager Helle Almind visited Greenland to meet with partners and customers. The visit strengthened the shared understanding of the region’s logistics needs and once again underlined the importance of close collaboration to ensure reliable supply chains under Arctic conditions.
“It must work in practice”
“It is crucial that logistics work seamlessly in practice, because our customers depend on a steady and predictable flow of goods. Without this, production and supply chains in Greenland and beyond would be disrupted – and that would impact entire communities. Logistics is about much more than just moving goods and containers; it is about reliability, trust and the partnerships that make trade possible where alternatives are limited. That is why collaboration across the North Atlantic is so important,” says Helle Almind, Commercial Manager, APM Terminals Nordics.
A responsibility upheld every day
“The work in Aarhus is not only about handling cargo – it is about ensuring that entire communities can rely on a stable and efficient supply chain. Visiting our partners in Greenland reinforced just how essential that responsibility is, and it is something we take very seriously and lift with proudness every single day,” says Mikael Gutman, Managing Director, APM Terminals Nordics.
The Arctic and North Atlantic are becoming increasingly important in global trade. Reliable and efficient logistics ensure food security, enable exports and connect local industries to international markets. For Greenland and beyond, logistics are not just a backbone of business – they are a lifeline.
