APM Terminals Algeciras awards 18 non-profit projects with its Social Action Awards

The company celebrates the 12th edition of the event, with the support of its employees

Groups promoting social well-being and inclusion in the Campo de Gibraltar region have earned the full recognition of APM Terminals Algeciras and its employees. Today, the company celebrated the twelfth edition of its Social Action Awards. This initiative has supported 18 projects this year aimed at improving the quality of life of the elderly, families in need, people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups.

During an always moving and emotional ceremony, representatives of the winning associations, accompanied by their sponsors at the terminal, received a symbolic cheque for the contribution made by the company, which totals €45,000 this year. ‘As part of the Maersk Group, our purpose is to improve the life for all by integrating the world, and with these awards we represent the recognition of the company and its employees for the work carried out by the associative network for others,’ said José Miguel Carreño, Chief Operations Officer of APM Terminals Algeciras during the ceremony, which closed with a few words of thanks from Keld Pedersen, Head of Hub Terminals.

In the area of care for the elderly, the winners were the San José Nursing Home, the Association of Relatives of Alzheimer's Patients in Tarifa and the Navegantes de Esperanza Association in La Línea, which need to purchase electrical appliances and materials for workshops, respectively. Nuevo Futuro, the CESJE Proyecto Hombre Foundation and Aires de San Roque will receive an allocation for different types of educational and prevention workshops for children. On the other hand, Cáritas de Nuestra Señora de la Palma, from the parish of San José de Las Colinas and San Mateo de Tarifa, will channel the aid granted with the prize to families in difficulty.

Cádiz Association of Ataxias in Algeciras and ELA in La Línea will use the prize money to purchase furniture, and El Camino de Valentina in Los Barrios and Princesa Gabriela in Algeciras will use it to purchase merchandise and fund research into the rare diseases that their protagonists live with. The parents' association of the Virgen de la Esperanza school in La Línea, the Besana Down Syndrome Association in Algeciras, TEA-Esperanza Azul in La Línea and La Montera in Los Barrios will distribute the aid granted to the disabled community. Bandera Rosa will also use the grant to continue its work supporting women who have undergone breast cancer surgery.
