APM Terminals Algeciras breaks its productivity record with Maastricht Maersk
Gemini Cooperation's AE3 service vessel departs the bay with 251 PMPH
APM Terminals Algeciras broke its productivity record yesterday with Maastricht Maersk, a 20,000 TEU capacity vessel that was handled simultaneously by 10 cranes. The ship, included in AE3 service of the East-West network of Gemini Cooperation, departed from Juan Carlos I dock to London Gateway after setting a record of 251 PMPH (Port Moves per Hour), surpassing the record set in April by the Manila Maersk.
Maastricht Maersk has made 5,225 moves at the terminal since its arrival on Wednesday afternoon, recording more than 28.5 CMPH (Crane Moves per Hour), which is the terminal's productivity target for 2025. Almost half of the more than 700 ships stowed at APM Terminals Algeciras this year have operated above target, thanks to the professionalism of the team, good planning and a stable yard strategy, combined with the joint effort of everyone and the collaboration of Maersk.
"Planning operations with 10 cranes is a challenge, and results like this are an excellent example of good teamwork. We are grateful for the work of everyone involved, from the stevedores to operations, planning, execution, maintenance, prevention... in achieving this new productivity milestone at APM Terminals Algeciras," said José Miguel Carreño, Chief Operations Officer at APM Terminals Algeciras.
