A new record: Aqaba Container Terminal achieves highest-ever monthly throughput, strengthening its position as the preferred gateway for the Levant region and beyond

Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) is pleased to announce a new operational milestone for the month of May 2025, during which the terminal achieved its highest-ever monthly quayside throughput, handling a remarkable 92,348 TEUs.

“This milestone represents more than just numbers; it demonstrates our commitment to operational excellence and our team's exceptional dedication,” said Harald Nijhof, CEO of Aqaba Container Terminal. “Achieving this record throughput is a testament to the Team ACT hard work, loyalty, and professionalism. Every department has contributed to this success while maintaining our focus on delivering superior customer satisfaction.”

Aqaba Container Terminal extends its sincere appreciation to the entire logistics and trade ecosystem, without whose support, the terminal would not have been able to achieve this milestone. ACT also thanks the Ministry of Transport, ASEZA, ADC, Jordan Customs, the Jordan Maritime Commission and local authorities for their continued partnership and support. Most importantly, it expresses its gratitude to the valued customers, whose ongoing trust and collaboration continue to drive ACT’s performance and growth.

This new record highlights the termina’s operational excellence and the growing confidence of Jordanian importers, exporters, and transit cargo clients. During this month, ACT successfully operated 52 vessels and handled 32,665 truck transactions. The transit cargo reached a record volume of 6,364 TEUs, and the month-on-month increase of 52% underscores the positive trend and growth of this segment.

This achievement comes as ACT continues to invest in enhancing its infrastructure and capabilities. As a part of the concession renewal agreement, the terminal recently welcomed a state-of-the-art Ship-to-Shore (STS) crane, equipped with cutting-edge technology. This addition reflects its ongoing commitment to modernizing its assets and boost efficiency and capacity.

In line with its commitment to meeting customer needs and maintaining seamless supply chains, the company will operate as usual throughout the Eid al-Adha holiday. Services will remain uninterrupted, pausing only for three hours on the first day of Eid. ACT will dedicate all necessary operational resources to ensure efficient service continuity, demonstrating its readiness to manage any increase in maritime or land traffic during the holiday.

As part of its long-term vision, Aqaba Container Terminal remains dedicated to implementing sustainable practices and innovative solutions towards achieving a zero-carbon footprint by 2040, positioning the terminal as an environmentally responsible leader in the Red Sea.
