Martin Johansson assists with your logistics solutions
With his extensive experience in areas such as sales and operational work at Hapag Lloyd, supply chain solutions at Maersk, IT infrastructure at Hogia and finally forwarding at Grencarrier, we are pleased to announce that Martin Johansson has now joined APM Terminals Gothenburg to help you with your logistics solutions.
Martin Johansson, you have experience in all parts of the supply chain. What trends and needs do you see in the logistics market?
"The need to quickly react and respond to changes in the supply chain has increased significantly. When making promises to end customers, goods owners must take into account the risks that can come to fruition during transport. In relation to that, the demand for transparency and supply chain control has increased."
“Focus on the climate must accelerate”
"Our focus on the climate, which unfortunately has been a bit dormant during the pandemic, needs to accelerate. Many companies have set ambitious climate targets with now looming deadlines, so it is important to review one's transport emissions.
"Even at the consumer level, sustainability is becoming increasingly central. For example, fewer and fewer people are likely to purchase a pair of autumn boots that would need to travel long stretches through Europe by lorry. For this reason, goods owners need to think outside the box and look at sustainable alternatives, such as short-sea solutions."
Logistics flows are like water – they find a way
"In Sweden we have a strong industry with a relatively balanced flow of imports and exports. When supply chain disruptions occur, the need for a strong and resilient logistics hub is even greater. Smaller ports are more exposed than large ports, which is clear now that almost all transshipment ports are overloaded, affecting feeder traffic and causing delays, increased transport costs and container shortages.
"Also, Swedish industry is generally farther away from its markets than their competitors on the continent. That’s why carriers need to find reliable, cost-effective and flexible solutions that create value. I look forward to helping APM Terminals’ customers do just that," Johansson concludes.
