Investeringer i landinfrastruktur kan blive katalysatoren for næste vækstfase

Kalundborg har på få år udviklet sig til et vigtigt industrielt og logistisk knudepunkt i Danmark. Betydelige investeringer i industri, havn og terminaldrift har styrket området markant og skabt en effektiv og robust godsstrøm til og fra søsiden. I dag spiller Kalundborg en central rolle i både nationale og internationale forsyningskæder.

For at understøtte den fortsatte udvikling peger aktørerne i og omkring havnen på behovet for, at den landfaste infrastruktur følger med. Her er særligt tværmotorvejen Rute 22 en afgørende brik i forhold til at sikre sammenhæng mellem havn, industri og resten af Sjælland.

Rute 22 som en central del af den samlede logistikløsning

Ifølge APM Terminals er sammenhængen mellem sø- og landside afgørende for at udnytte de investeringer, der allerede er foretaget i havn og terminal.

“Vi har et stærkt og tæt samarbejde med Kalundborg Havn og investerer løbende i bæredygtige og effektive logistikløsninger. En velfungerende landinfrastruktur er en vigtig forudsætning for, at den samlede logistikløsning kan fungere optimalt,” siger Mikael Gutman, CEO, APM Terminals Nordics.

En opgradering af Rute 22 vil styrke forbindelsen mellem Sjællands produktionsvirksomheder, Kalundborg Havn og de internationale markeder. Samtidig kan den bidrage til at aflaste trafikken mod hovedstadsområdet og skabe mere sammenhængende og konkurrencedygtige transportløsninger på tværs af regionen.

Bæredygtige investeringer har løftet Kalundborg til internationalt niveau

Kalundborg Havn og APM Terminals har gennem et tæt og langsigtet offentlig-privat samarbejde investeret målrettet i bæredygtige logistikløsninger. Investeringerne omfatter blandt andet elektrificerede kraner, elektrisk terminaludstyr og energieffektive containeroperationer. Samarbejdet er samlet under navnet Green Zealand Gateway og har til formål at understøtte bæredygtig vækst og effektive forsyningskæder i samspil med både industrien og lokalområdet.

De samlede investeringer har placeret containerterminalen i Kalundborg blandt de mest effektive i APM Terminals’ globale netværk. I dag kan en lastbil køre ind og ud af terminalen på under 10 minutter – den hurtigste håndteringstid på tværs af APM Terminals’ terminaler. Desuden har containerterminalen i Kalundborg også den højeste kranproduktivitet blandt APM Terminals’ terminaler med mobile harbour cranes. Det bidrager til høj produktivitet, stor driftssikkerhed og effektive forsyningskæder, som skaber værdi ikke kun for transportsektoren, men for hele økonomien.

Kalundborg Havn er desuden den eneste dybvandshavn på Sjælland, der kan modtage de store containerskibe. Det giver området en særlig strategisk betydning for forsyningssikkerhed, import og eksport

Investments in land infrastructure could be the catalyst for the next phase of growth

Over the past few years, Kalundborg has developed into an important industrial and logistics hub in Denmark. Significant investments in industry, port infrastructure and terminal operations have strengthened the area considerably, creating efficient and resilient cargo flows to and from the maritime side. Today, Kalundborg plays a key role in both national and international supply chains.

To support continued development, stakeholders in and around the port point to the need for the hinterland infrastructure to keep pace. In particular, the transversal Route 22 motorway is a critical component in ensuring strong connectivity between the port, industry and the rest of Zealand.

Route 22 as a key element of the integrated logistics solution

According to APM Terminals, strong connectivity between the maritime and landside infrastructure is essential to fully realise the value of the investments already made in the port and terminal.

“We have a strong and close collaboration with Kalundborg Port and continue to invest in sustainable and efficient logistics solutions. Well-functioning hinterland infrastructure is a key prerequisite for an integrated logistics solution to operate optimally,” says Mikael Gutman, CEO, APM Terminals Nordics.

An upgrade of Route 22 would strengthen the connection between manufacturing companies across Zealand, Kalundborg Port and international markets. At the same time, it could help relieve traffic congestion towards the Greater Copenhagen area and create more coherent and competitive transport solutions across the region.

With continued investments in the port, terminal operations and hinterland infrastructure, Kalundborg has the potential to maintain and further strengthen its role as a central hub for sustainable and efficient logistics – benefiting businesses, local communities and the green transition.

Sustainable investments have elevated Kalundborg to international standards

Through a close and long-term public-private partnership, Kalundborg Port and APM Terminals have made targeted investments in sustainable logistics solutions. These investments include electrified cranes, electric terminal equipment and energy-efficient container operations. The collaboration is gathered under the name Green Zealand Gateway, with the aim of supporting sustainable growth and efficient supply chains in close interaction with both industry and the local community.

Overall, these investments have positioned the container terminal in Kalundborg among the most efficient in APM Terminals’ global network. Today, a truck can enter and exit the terminal in less than 10 minutes – the fastest turnaround time across all APM Terminals worldwide. In addition, the container terminal in Kalundborg has the highest crane productivity among APM Terminals’ terminals operating mobile harbour cranes. This contributes to high productivity, strong operational reliability and efficient supply chains, creating value not only for the transport sector but for the wider economy.

Kalundborg Port is also the only deep-water port on Zealand capable of accommodating large container vessels. This gives the area a unique strategic importance for supply security, imports and exports.
