APM Terminals Lázaro Cárdenas receives new 100% electric Super-Post-Panamax crane

In line with its global strategy for decarbonization and technological modernization, APM Terminals Lázaro Cárdenas has received a new fully electric Super-Post-Panamax crane. This state-of-the-art equipment will strengthen the assets that will form part of the terminal’s Phase II expansion.

“At APM Terminals Mexico, we work every day to drive the growth of the country and the region by strengthening its logistics infrastructure through cutting-edge technology, strategic investment, and local talent development. The arrival of this new STS crane represents a concrete step toward a more efficient and low-emission operation, aligned with our commitment to decarbonization and innovation. We believe the future of logistics is built with more sustainable equipment and with locally trained people leading the change,” said Beatriz Yera, Managing Director of APM Terminals Mexico.

The new Super-Post-Panamax crane has a maximum lifting capacity of 100 tons and is equipped with advanced technology that ensures the same high performance as existing cranes while delivering greater energy efficiency and sustainability benefits.

Its incorporation will help reduce vessel turnaround times, provide greater flexibility for ships of various sizes, and deliver a more reliable and competitive operation for customers and shipping lines operating at the port.

The arrival of this new equipment further strengthens APM Terminals Lázaro Cárdenas’ leadership as one of the most modern, sustainable, and efficient terminals in Latin America, advancing its commitment to offer safe, responsible, and world-class operations.

The Super-Post-Panamax crane will be integrated into the new set of ARMG cranes planned as part of the Phase II expansion, which will increase the terminal’s capacity to 2.2 million TEUs per year and begin operations in 2026, consolidating the terminal’s strategy for growth and modernization.
