APM Terminals Pier 400 and Marine Mammal Care Center celebrate renewed partnership

At the heart of the Port of Los Angeles, commerce and conservation are thriving together.

This week, APM Terminals Los Angeles at Pier 400 and the Marine Mammal Care Center (MMCC) celebrated the renewal of their partnership for a second year — continuing their shared mission to protect Southern California’s marine life and inspire ocean conservation.

Over the past year, the MMCC responded to more than 1,000 stranded marine mammals across Los Angeles County. Thanks to APM Terminals’ sponsorship of a rescue vehicle, the Center’s team logged over 45,000 miles rescuing and rehabilitating animals.

“Partnerships like the one we have with APM show that commerce and conservation not only can exist, but can thrive together,” said John Warner, CEO of the Marine Mammal Care Center. “APM’s support helps us respond faster, educate more people, and protect the marine life that makes this coast so special.”

For Jon Poelma, Managing Director of APM Terminals Los Angeles and newly appointed MMCC Board Member, the partnership reflects the company’s deep connection to the ocean environment where it operates.

“We’re proud to support the incredible work MMCC does to protect marine mammals and strengthen our harbor community,” said Poelma. “Healthy oceans are vital for all of us — for marine life, for our port, and for future generations.”
