Moín Container Terminal delivers humanitarian aid to communities affected by floods in La Estrella Valley

Aware of the human impact of weather emergencies, APM Terminals Moín Container Terminal joined the relief efforts to support more than 140 families in the district of Valle La Estrella, affected by the heavy rains caused by the passage of Tropical Wave No. 7.

Thanks to the coordination with the Municipal Emergency Committee (CME) of the canton of Limón and the National Commission for Risk Prevention and Emergency Attention (CNE), basic supplies were delivered to communities such as Valle Las Rosas, La Unión and Cerere, where more than 580 people are currently facing the effects of floods and overflowing rivers.

The humanitarian aid included:

- 80 packages of bottled water
- 60 packages of diapers in various sizes and presentations
- 100 light bulbs with batteries
- 200 large Panasonic batteries
- 100 medical kits with antibacterial soap, gauze, band-aids, alcohol, feminine pads and surgical tape.

The distribution of these supplies is in the responsibility of the local authorities, in order to ensure that the aid reaches those who need it most quickly and effectively.

"Responsibility is not only demonstrated within our terminal, but also when we act in solidarity with our communities. This collaboration with the Municipal Emergency Committee reflects our commitment to the welfare of the people and our willingness to work together in the face of the climate challenges facing the area," said Krizia Cantón, Social Responsibility Coordinator of APM Terminals Moín.

This action is part of the Responsibility pillar of APM Terminals' sustainability strategy, which includes specific commitments such as decarbonization by 2040, strengthening the social environment, creating inclusive work environments and actively promoting safety inside and outside its operations.The Moín Container Terminal has actively participated in the monitoring and attention of climatic events in the province, consolidating a vision of sustainable development that seeks to raise the standards of social and environmental impact in the Caribbean region.
