Customer Update - 16/9

Dear all,

Further to our general update on September 12th, then please find latest operational status and update for APM Terminals Aarhus.

First and foremost, our key focus and priorities remain unchanged, being that the container flows remain flowing in a safe manner, while we consistently stabilize and improve our level of daily services.

The sudden change in supply chain patterns where import containers were and still are not being unstuffed at the warehouses, caused containers to stay for longer at the terminal increasing density thereby decreasing efficiency and service levels.

We understand there is a lot of incorrect perception around the truck turn time at the terminal hence we wanted in todays update to share some data on the actual performance on truck transactions (truck actual time on the terminal). On average each truck transaction corresponds to on average of 1.8 container i.e. double transaction pickup and delivery. We can see the TTT increased in line with the increase in density over the past 5 weeks (driven by increase in import and dwell time). We expect with a decrease in density service levels will improve therefore continuing to take delivery of imports is vital.

We continue to actively communicate and engage with the entire market, to daily arrange movement of containers to various off docks and other terminals. This is directly alleviating the yard density situation, and positively contributing to keeping the terminal fluid and reestablish best possible customer service and experience.

To support our overall and common objective, then we sincerely appreciate your continuous good support with following critical points:

  • Drop off full export containers as late as possible, and not earlier than 3 days before scheduled vessel departure
  • Pick up full import containers as soon as possible, and soonest possible upon discharge at APM Terminals Aarhus terminal. The more containers picked up, the more efficient flows and higher level of services can we provide

We have been maintaining operations across vessel, yard, gate and rail throughout though clearly not at the service levels we want to provide. Past days we have seen an improvement where yard density has improved, though it still remains at high levels. We expect to see improvements in service levels over the coming weeks barring any changes in supply chain patterns.

Your cooperation and patience is very much appreciated, and please be assured that we are doing everything possible to handle your cargo and requests as efficiently and fast as possible.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
