Rijeka Gateway Supports Podmurvice Primary Pupils with Festive Season Donation

The year 2025 will remain a historic milestone for Rijeka Gateway, marked by the official start of terminal operations. The company wishes to conclude the year with a gesture that reaffirms its connection to the local community. Continuing the tradition established last year, funds originally intended for corporate gifts have once again been redirected to charitable purposes, this time to benefit Rijeka Gateway's closest neighbours – the pupils of Podmurvice Primary School.

With the aim of making Christmas giving a lasting practice focused on the wellbeing of children, Rijeka Gateway has donated funds to cover the costs of field trips and excursions for pupils from lower-income families. In doing so, the company ensures that financial obstacles do not become a barrier preventing children from taking part in activities that create cherished school memories and enhance their learning.

“We believe that every child deserves equal opportunities, especially when it comes to participating in educational activities that bring new experiences, knowledge, and the joy of discovery. Just as our terminal opens the door to new partnerships and connections every day, we want to open doors for children who might otherwise be unable to join their classmates on school trips,” said Maja Borčić, Commercial Director, at the donation handover.

At the handover ceremony, the Headmistress of Podmurvice Primary School, Mrs Loredana Jakominić, stated: The donation from Rijeka Gateway has brought great joy to our school, especially to our students. As we prepare for the holidays, this wonderful act of kindness has reminded us how much it means when the community stands by us. Thanks to this support, our students will be able to participate in trips and field lessons without worry, creating memories that will warm their hearts for a lifetime. On behalf of all the staff at OŠ Podmurvice – teachers, specialists, support staff, and of course our students – I sincerely thank you for recognizing our needs and showing genuine care. Your warmth and generosity have made the end of our year truly brighter.“
