ACT first terminal in Middle East to implement electric container handling equipment

Aqaba Container Terminal has become the Middle East's first users of battery-electric container handling equipment. 

This is part of an APM Terminals USD60 million port-equipment electrification pilot involving five container terminals. Completion of the pilots is expected in  2025 and knowledge and insights gained from the pilots is likely to drive up supply, encourage the development of industry-wide best practices, and stimulate ongoing development long term.
