In 2019, our integrated terminal will offer the first semi- automated port and full-automated stacking yard in Italy. The 700m deep-sea berth will be capable of handling the latest Ultra Large Container Vessels and up to 1.1 mln TEUs.
In addition to the existing four-track rail terminal in the Reefer Terminal, four extra tracks will be added in the Container Terminal, providing rapid access to the Central European market, and ensuring fast and efficient movement of cargo.
Vado Ligure’s Reefer Terminal is the leading fruit terminal on the Mediterranean, handling 600,000 tonnes of produce per year, primarily bananas and pineapples, as well as kiwi, citrus and other fruits from Latin America, New Zealand and South Africa.
Supported by a high-performance terminal operating system, we offer a full range of services, including a reserved area for hazardous cargo storage (320 TEU), a Container Freight Station and a fully equipped workshop for dry and reefer container repairs. We are also experienced in handling break-bulk cargo, such as railway wagons and locomotives. The terminal is equipped with a scanner, and has phytosanitary and veterinary boarder inspection areas.
Since 2014, the terminal has had CE 834-2007 organic certification. Issued by control body CCPB Srl, this defines the production, transformation, labeling, control and certification of organic products in the European Union.
To reduce complexity and increase efficiency, Vado Ligure’s port system has a port gate and shared customs facilities for both the deep-sea and reefer terminals.
To avoid truck queueing and guarantee quick turnaround times, the terminals will also operate using a digital truck appointment system.
