Go Green 2022: Making a Difference Together

We continue our ambitious mission to enable future changemakers by rooting environmental awareness deep into the educational system. This year we took a different approach: a gentle hand from the terminal shaking hands with the future generation.

This year saw the third school in a row from our local community get a Go Green makeover. More than 400 Children were touched by the Go Green Educational Programs led by more than 30 young APM Terminals Medport Tangier colleagues who worked hard over two weeks to paint a big smile on the kids’ faces. The enthusiasm and energy was phenomenal.

This year we decided to bring extra care and raise the bar, so we got the idea to up-lift and flip three 40ft damaged containers to serve for educational purposes. The rest is just magic!

At APM Terminals, we educate, we employ creative, participative, and artistic approaches to teach our communities children, the future generation, about the effects of climate change and the ambitious decarbonization goals, igniting a desire to learn more and the excitement to contribute.

Go Green 2021

More than 25 volunteers and an eight-person strong organising committee from APM Terminals Medport Tangier gave up their weekend in October 2021, to transform ‘Bin El Widan’ primary school, located just a few kilometres from the terminal.

While some of the more serious repair works took around a week, talented volunteers guided by an external artist worked long days over the weekend to repair and transform the school into an inspirational learning environment for around 150 children to learn and grow into tomorrow leaders.

Following the renovation, the terminal used the school as a venue to host Go Green 2021 – a global environmental event supported by APM Terminals facilities around the world.

The event was used to help young people comprehend today's environmental challenges. “We are optimistic that next generations can and will develop more sustainable behaviours and solutions as they keep heading toward a better, cleaner, and greener world,” explained Ahmed El Amrani, HSSE Manager at APM Terminals Medport Tangier.

Go Green 2019

In 2019, a team of volunteers from APM Terminals Tangier Medport, helped improve the lives and education of more than 200 students. Two weeks of combined efforts transformed a forgotten village school into a place where kids look forward to coming, with access to water, stable electricity in their classrooms , environmental awareness, and an area where kids can do what they do best: a playground.
