APM Terminals Algeciras employees manufacture COVID-19 protection visors

algeciras-covid-v-isorsAPM Terminals Algeciras is part of a chain of solidarity that is manufacturing and providing protective visors for health service staff and State Security Forces in their fight against the spread and effects of COVID-19.

Employees from the terminal, José Antonio Sierra, Daniel Hernández and Juan Jesús Lara, are participating in an initiative coordinated by the 3D Campo de Gibraltar Printing Association for the manufacture, disinfection and distribution of the visors to those who need them. They are also cooperating with Isla Verde High School, with whom they worked to make a joint delivery of 20 units to the senior residence of San Jose Artesano.

Up to Sunday 29 March, the collective had managed to manufacture 2,500 protective visors against coronavirus, which have been distributed to hospitals, health centers, care homes and members of the State Security Forces.

The 3D Campo de Gibraltar Printing Association is made up of volunteers who own 3D printers, who are freely sharing their work thanks also to the collaboration of many other people, organizations and companies. APM Terminals Algeciras is among them, making its 3D printer and the necessary resources available to the association. The terminal has printed 50 visors to date. At least 18 printers are currently working on this initiative.
